A total of 32 people in the western Chinese region of Xinjiang have been jailed, three of them for life, for terror offences stemming from downloading and spreading violent internet content which authorities have blamed for inspiring several deadly attacks.

A total of 32 people in the western Chinese region of Xinjiang have been jailed, three of them for life, for terror offences stemming from downloading and spreading violent internet content which authorities have blamed for inspiring several deadly attacks.

Twenty-nine of the 32 were handed sentences ranging from four to 15 years in jail by seven courts in the region, according to state broadcaster CCTV and the region’s official newspaper, the Xinjiang Daily.
