A soldier who was wounded in a rogue attack in Afghanistan is to be sentenced today after admitting to killing his 19-month-old daughter.

Lance Corporal Liam Culverhouse, 25, lost his right eye when he came under fire at an Afghan National Police checkpoint in Nad-e-Ali, Helmand province, in November 2009, which killed five of his comrades.

Eighteen months after returning home, Culverhouse assaulted his then seven-week-old daughter Khloe Abrams at the family home in Northampton, leaving her fighting for life in hospital for nearly 18 months.

Khloe was admitted to Northampton General Hospital on May 8, 2011 with severe injuries. She never recovered and died at the Rainbow Children’s Hospice in Loughborough on November 7, 2012.

Culverhouse, who was medically discharged from the Army, pleaded guilty to causing or allowing Khloe's death in November.

Culverhouse is to be sentenced at Northampton Crown Court.
