France's 'first lady' in hospital after Hollande affair rumours
The woman considered France’s first lady has been admitted to hospital after a report that the president is having an affair with an actress.
Valerie Trierweiler’s chief of staff, Patrice Biancone, confirmed that the 48-year-old journalist who lives with President Francois Hollande has been treated in hospital since Friday.
Ms Biancone said she was admitted for “rest and a few tests” and is expected to leave the hospital tomorrow.
Mr Hollande has never married. Rumors have long circulated that he might have a lover.
The magazine Closer published images Friday showing a bodyguard and a helmeted man it alleges is Hollande visiting French actress Julie Gayet.
