Cops mistake remote control for gun

A UK man was forced out of bed by police for holding a remote control.

Keith Abrahams was having a nap when 18 armed officers raided his house in the middle of the night after a paramedic - who had treated his wife Michelle Malone for a panic attack prior to the event - thought he'd seen the truck driver holding a firearm.

Keith said: "I had only been sat in bed and dozed off. The next thing I know I'm being ordered out of bed at gunpoint."

The couple were marched out of the house and pushed into a waiting police van while officers searched the property.

Michelle is quoted by Metro as saying: "The police told us the medic had seen a 10-inch black firearm being held by Keith - the remote.

"The room was dark but I can't see how you would mistake it for a weapon.

"I just remember a bang like an earthquake and seeing police pointing guns at Keith. I've never even seen one before. It was just horrendous."

The pair have lodged a complaint with West Mercia Police over the incident, which Michelle claims left her with concussion.
