Princeton University evacuated over bomb threat

Princeton University has been evacuated due to an unspecified bomb threat.

The university has not yet announced the source if the threat but advises that further updates will be available later today.

The official Twitter account for the New Jersey University posted warnings to all its staff and students to leave the campus and go home, assemble at evacuation sites or go into the town of Princeton.

The university said local, state and federal law enforcement agencies were investigating the threat along with its own public safety officials.

They said that the campus will stay closed for the rest of the day except to public safety workers.

Princeton University spokesman Martin Mbugua said campus officials were notified of the threat this morning.

Mbugua said: "It was around 9am when the call came in."

He said he had no additional information about the nature of the threat or how it was received.
