Tokyo trains halted after war bomb found on building site

Commuters were left temporarily stranded in Tokyo today when an unexploded bomb left over from the Second World War was found on a building site.
The discovery halted the long range bullet trains and local services into and out of the Japanese capital.
The bomb, about 40 centimeters long. Was destroyed on the site by a bomb squad.
A large amount of unexploded ordnance is still found in Tokyo and other areas that were heavily bombed before Japan’s 1945 surrender ended the Second World War. Most of the duds were dropped by the United States, but some were buried or lost by the Japanese military.
