Governor confirms only two explosions at Boston Marathon
The Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, has said that only two explosive devices were found in Boston where three people died and more than 150 others were injured in blast night's bomb blast.
It contradicts earlier reports that a number of other unexploded devices were recovered.
The FBI are interviewing a number of eyewitnesses as they investigate what the White House has described as an "act of terrorism".
There were 176 casualties in the bombings, including three fatalities and 17 people who remain in critical condition, a press conference in Boston heard.
Democrat governor of Massachussets Deval Patrick said: “It’s important to clarify that two and only two explosive devices were found yesterday.
“Other parcels, all other parcels, in the area of the blast have been examined but there are no unexploded bombs. There were no unexploded explosive devices found.
“Over 150 people were injured yesterday in the blast, some gravely. Our thoughts go out to all of those injured and killed and to their family and friends.”
Bureau Spokesman Rick Des Lauriers has appealed for co-operation.
Mr Des Lauriers said: "The FBI is logically following up on a variety of leads.
"You will see us and our law enforcement colleagues interviewing maybe your neighbour or co-worker or even yourself in the coming days.
"We encourage you to please co-operate with law enforcement authorities."
