Pet turtoise turns up after 30 years

A Brazilian family have found their pet tortoise 30 years after she went missing.

The Almeida family discovered Manuela, who they lost in 1982, alive and well inside a box containing an old record player in a room used by their late father – who died earlier this month – to keep broken electrical items.

"I looked and saw her. At that moment, I turned white, I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.", Son Leandro told the country's Globo G1 website.

Vet Jeferson Piers believes Manuela survived by eating termites from the wooden floor.
