Japan summons Chinese ambassador over 'territorial incursion'

In China, thousands of protesters are throwing stones at the Japanese embassy amid rising tensions between the two countries over disputed islands in the East China Sea.

Riot police in Beijing are struggling to contain the crowd outside the building, with several other protests taking place in cities across China.

It comes after Japan this week announced it had bought the islands.

The Chinese navy sent six ships into waters around the island this morning, leading Japan to summon the Chinese ambassador over what it said was "a territorial incursion".
