Robber leaves driving licence in getaway van

A robber in Britain accidentally left his driving licence behind in an abandoned van which he hired out in his own name.

Kevin Sloan held up a post office with a shotgun alongside an accomplice, but he managed to leave his DNA all over a ski mask that he also forgot to get out of his abandoned vehicle following the raid in Glasgow, a court heard.

Both men left with £5,705 and fled in a Transit van before leaving it in a car park, but it was found with the vehicle rental agreement, Sloan's driving licence, a jacket and the ski mask inside.

Ian Dugiod QC, defending, described Sloan – who admitted holding up the post office – as a "complete amateur".
