Visitors to exotic destinations advised to vaccinate

Travellers to exotic destinations are being advised to think seriously about having a rabies vaccination.

A British grandmother's currently being treated for the disease in hospital after being bitten by a puppy in India.

GP Dr Sarah Jarvis says just because travel's got easier, doesn't make destinations safer:

"If you're going to travel don't assume that other countries are safe just because you can get a plane ticket to them at the click of a button", she said

"Always see a practice nurse eight weeks before you travel to find out if you need immunising against rabies or anything else".
