California winemakers 'making cannabis wine'

Cannabis wine is reportedly being produced by a number of California winemakers.

According to the Daily Beast, "quite a few California winemakers are surreptitiously producing cannabis aperitifs" and one unnamed vintner interviewed by the website claims the recipe simply consists of one pound of the drugs placed in a cask of the fermenting alcohol.

But aficionados believe there is not a great commercial market for traditional cannabis wine made from red seeds, including cabernet sauvignon, because of the state's tolerant attitude towards it.

In the 1980s, weed wine was made from rosé and bottles of the alcohol sold for more than US$100 (€76.27).
