Papua New Guinea rattled by quake
A strong magnitude-6.7 earthquake has rattled Papua New Guinea.
There were no immediate reports of injury or damage from the quake.
Chris McKee, the assistant director of the Geophysical Observatory in Port Moresby, said the earthquake was centred deep enough that it could be felt widely but hopefully did not do too much damage.
According to the US Geological Survey, the quake struck at 8:15am local time and was centred 238 miles north of Port Moresby. The USGS estimated the earthquake’s centre was about 65 miles below the ground.
