An Australian gallery has reported the theft of a painting – 12 years after they noticed it was missing.

The National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne explained the theft of a $202,000 piece of art – which is thought to have been created in 1824 - was not reported earlier because they thought it had just been misplaced.
