A 6.6 magnitude earthquake has struck south western Siberia, some 58 miles east of the Russian city of Kyzyl.

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake has struck south western Siberia, some 58 miles east of the Russian city of Kyzyl.

The tremor hit at a depth of 3.7 miles, according to the US Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the quake was in a sparsely populated region near the border with Mongolia.
