Goat disqualified from competition for doping
A champion goat has been disqualified from a State Fair after failing a drugs test.
The first prize animal was banned by Colorado officials after testing positive for an unapproved substance, which is thought to have come from a feed additive that is allowed for swine but not goats, the Pueblo Chieftain reports.
But owner Susan Weinroth, of Sedalia, Missouri, thinks the goat had its food tampered with after her son tried to enter another goat which also failed a drugs test.
The family are not allowed to receive earnings from the sale of the animals, which stood at $5,500 (€3,995) for the champion and $1,300 (€944.38) for the other disqualified goat.
