Greenhouse gas emissions rose in Europe last year, but the EU remains on track to meet international commitments to cut gases which cause climate change, the European Environment Agency (EEA) said today.

Greenhouse gas emissions rose in Europe last year, but the EU remains on track to meet international commitments to cut gases which cause climate change, the European Environment Agency (EEA) said today.

There was a 2.4% increase in emissions in 2010, which followed a 7% drop in 2009 caused largely by the recession and the growth of renewable energy in Europe, the agency said.
