UN recognises Libya's transitional council

The United Nations General Assembly has voted to recognise Libya's national transitional council as the legitimate representative of the Libyan people.

Meanwhile, anti-Gaddafi forces have made significant, co-ordinated advances in two of the three towns still held by forces loyal to the former Libyan Leader.

Bani Walid, south of Tripoli, is said to be close to falling.
