More details emerge of Jersey stabbings

A multiple murder inquiry is underway this morning after three adults and three young children were all stabbed to death in Jersey.

Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that all the victims were of Polish origin, including four from one family, Polish state broadcaster TVP reported on its website.

The suspect is also Polish, according to TVP.

A 30-year-old man's under arrest in hospital.

A local resident said he saw a woman's body on the ground covered in blood and then watched as paramedics carried the bodies of two little girls out of the flat.

He said: “I’ve never seen so much blood. They were completely limp. The paramedics were crying.

“They were completely drenched in blood, one of the paramedics had to change his clothes.”

He said the girls were blonde and were both wearing dresses. He guessed their ages as one being around eight or nine and the other two or three.

He said the woman was lying on the road, was also covered in blood and appeared lifeless.

The man, who would give only his first name of John, said he had been in his garden nearby and had ran to the scene after hearing a woman scream.

“She shouted: ’please help me, please God help me’,” he said.

He was unable to tell what her accent was.

A large section of the road was cordoned off today, including a grassy wooded area in front of the flats.

The scene was guarded by police, including two armed officers, while a forensic team could also be seen searching through undergrowth.

The area, made up of smart houses with many converted into flats, was quiet this morning.

Neighbours described it as a peaceful area and said they had not been aware of what happened yesterday.

A number of Polish people have gathered at the cordon and clustered together talking but said they did not want to speak to reporters.

One man appeared to have been crying.
