Topless men are not allowed to board selected buses in Brighton and Hove, south east England - because their sweat upsets other passengers.

The rule has been introduced by Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company to protect other members of the public from undesirable sweating and because the perspiration gets on the seats.

Roger French, managing director of the transport organisation, told The Argus: "We started this during a very hot summer because it was unhygienic having people getting on buses a bit sweaty, and the sweat gets on the seats.

"We thought it was common courtesy to the other passengers."

However, The Big Lemon Bus company has welcomed people being topless on its buses.
