Kitty dies, aged 136

Britain's oldest cat has died aged 30 - or 136 in cat years.

The black and white moggy called Mischief – who was thought to be the oldest living cat in the world – was around for an amazing 136 cat years, but the kitty died hours after his family had put on a party to celebrate his 30th birthday.

A vet informed owner Chris Thorne, 54, of Launcester, Cornwall – who had the cat as a pet since 1982 - that a tumour in Mischief's mouth meant the moggy should be put to sleep.

Chris said: "It really is like losing a family member - he was with us for so long."

One of the oldest kitties in the world was US cat Creme Puff, of Austin, Texas, who stayed alive for 38 human years.
