At least 35 people have been killed by roadside bombs planted along a pilgrims’ route to the Shiite holy city of Karbala in Iraq, officials say.

They estimated at least 130 people were wounded in today’s blasts.

Authorities said the bombs were planted near police checkpoints about 12 miles outside Karbala, south of Baghdad.
