Four British tourists have been arrested in Latvia after being found naked on a life-sized wooden horse.

The four men, all aged around 30, were arrested by police in Riga as they posed for pictures astride the lifesize monument - a permanent fixture outside a jewellery shop beside St. Peter's church - in temperatures of -15C.

The quartet, who were described as "intoxicated", were taken to a nearby police station, where they were ordered to get dressed and fined around £90.

Riga has suffered problems with European tourists in the past, with visitors regularly urinating on its iconic Freedom Monument, leading to campaigns for more police patrols and stricter penalties for offenders.
