New shadow cabinet appointed in UK

In the UK, the new leader of the Labour Party Ed Miliband has appointed his shadow cabinet.

The former Home Secretary Alan Johnson is the shadow Chancellor.

It had been thought the position would go to either Ed Balls or his wife, Yvette Cooper.

They have instead been nominated to the posts of shadow Home Secretary and shadow Foreign Secretary respectively.
