Post-mortem on girl who fell 15 floors

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out today on the body of a schoolgirl who died after falling 15 floors from her London tower block home.

Nine-year-old Leanne Minick was reportedly leaning out of a window to talk to a friend on the ground below when she lost her balance and fell.

Emergency services were alerted when a passer-by saw her lying injured on the pavement outside Sandall House in Daling Way, Bow, east London.

Leanne’s mother Clare Sicberras and her partner Ian Whitmore are thought to have rushed to the little girl’s side before she was taken to hospital by air ambulance on Saturday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at an east London hospital less than an hour later.

The post-mortem examination will be held at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, east London, this morning ahead of an inquest due to open at Poplar Coroner’s Court on Thursday.

Police have launched an investigation into the death, which they are treating as unexplained, but no arrests have been made.
