Man quizzed after two die in Welsh lake crash

A 21-year-old man was being questioned by police in Wales tonight after a car plunged down an embankment into a lake, killing two teenagers.

A 21-year-old man was being questioned by police in Wales tonight after a car plunged down an embankment into a lake, killing two teenagers.

Anwen Busby, 16, and Jai Burkes, 19, died in the crash on the A44 at Ponterwyd, near Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, in the early hours of this morning.

Two other 16-year-old girls, injured in the crash, were cut free from the wreckage of the car which ended up in 4ft of water.

They have been named on Facebook today as Charlotte Tourle and Amy Valentine.

Both were taken to Bronglaid Hospital in Aberystwyth after the accident.

A fifth person, believed to be the driver, managed to escape from the car before rescuers arrived.

He is thought to be the 21-year-old held tonight by police in connection with the accident.
