Australia: Parties lobby independents to form government

Leaders of Australia’s two major political parties lobbied for support from independent MPs today to stitch together the nation’s first minority government since the war.

Australia’s dollar was trading lower as uncertainty remained over results of the closest elections in almost 50 years.
