Hurricane Celia has howled toward the open ocean, away from Mexico’s Pacific coast.

The first hurricane of the 2010 season had maximum sustained winds of about 75mph and was expected to gradually strengthen.

The US National Hurricane Centre in Miami said Celia, a Category One hurricane, was about 365 miles south of Acapulco.
