Greece must undergo more spending cuts to survive, Prime Minister George Papandreou declared today, as talks on an international rescue plan entered the final stages.

Negotiations over what extra steps it must take as part of the rescue, which will provide €45bn in loans this year and up to a reported €120bn over several years, are expected to be completed over the weekend, possibly by Sunday.
