Southern Spain hit by earthquake
An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale has hit southern Spain, the US Geological Survey said today.
The American agency said the earthquake’s epicentre was 385 miles (616km) underground, near the city of Granada.
It struck a few minutes after midnight.
An official with the Spanish Interior Ministry office in Granada said there were no reports of damage or injuries.
He said the tremor was so deep that most people did not even feel it.
Spain’s National Geographic Institute put the magnitude lower, at 4.8.
