Fears for boy trapped inside well

Hopes were fading today for a four-year-old boy who fell into a 150ft well in an Indian village.

Efforts to save the boy, known only as Sahil, were delayed due to a spell of rain in the second week of the month.

Rescue teams have said chances of his survival are grim as he has spent 14 days in the well without food or water.

Sahil fell into the well in a village around 24 miles away from Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur while playing with his sister near their home on November 9.

Villagers and the district administration immediately launched a rescue operation, while a medical team was also present at the site.

They reportedly installed CCTV cameras to help monitor any movement Sahil made inside the well.

But efforts were disrupted at 30 feet due to loose soil which forced authorities to carry on digging manually. The rains further hampered the excavation.

The rescue team then began digging a parallel pit, following which they have now changed course towards the well to bring the boy out.
