Brown: No conspiracy to release Lockerbie bomber
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown today insisted he gave no assurances to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi about the future of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi when he met him earlier this year.
Mr Brown told a conference in Birmingham: "There was no conspiracy, no cover-up, no double-dealing, no deal on oil, no attempt to influence Scottish ministers."
