Monroe must wait for new neighbour
The winning $4.6m (€3.3m) bid for the crypt above Marilyn Monroe’s has fallen through.
Attorney David Camel said the bidder declined to complete the transaction that would have seen him or her spending eternity directly above the film star.
Mr Camel represents Elsie Poncher, who was auctioning off her late husband’s crypt at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery on eBay.com.
Mr Camel said he’s working with eBay to resolve the outcome of the auction.
He also says there are no plans to move Ms Poncher’s husband from his berth above Monroe until a new occupant is found.
Ms Poncher is selling her husband’s resting place to pay off her mortgage.
Bidding for the auction started at $500,000 (€350,000) on August 14. The final bid was $4,602,100 (€3,230,08) on Monday.
