Worldwide Interpol alert for Mumbai suspects

Interpol today issued a global alert for 13 suspects wanted by Pakistan in its investigation into last year’s Mumbai massacre that left 166 people dead.

The international police organisation said the alert asks member countries to assist in tracking down the fugitives and to notify its Islamabad bureau and Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France, on potential leads.

A statement issued said the alert went out from its Islamabad office to the organisation’s 186 other members.

India has said it suspects Pakistan-based militants may have been behind the attacks. Indian prosecutors say there were 10 attackers in the three-day siege and one, a Pakistani, survived.
