Three Danish soldiers killed in roadside explosion

The Danish army says three of its soldiers have been killed in southern Afghanistan after their vehicle hit an explosive device.

The Army Operational Command says the soldiers were in an armoured car ahead of other Danish military vehicles when it hit a roadside bomb or a mine today.

Denmark has now lost 24 soldiers in Afghanistan since it joined the US-led coalition in 2002.

The Nordic country has about 700 troops serving in the Nato force in Afghanistan. Most of them are based in the volatile southern province of Helmand.
