Finnish trains came to a halt today after rail workers began a one-day strike to protest at the state-owned rail company’s personnel policies and recent layoffs.

Finnish trains came to a halt today after rail workers began a one-day strike to protest at the state-owned rail company’s personnel policies and recent layoffs.

The walkout by workers of Finnish rail company VR affected some 200,000 passengers, including those travelling to Russia by rail and commuters in the capital Helsinki. All rail cargo transports also stopped.
