Chimp attack woman's family seek $50m
The family of the woman horribly mauled by a friend’s chimpanzee last month is seeking $50m (€38.6m) damages from the owner.
Relatives of Charla Nash filed legal papers against Sandra Herold in Stamford Connecticut. The papers are the prelude to an expected lawsuit. They seek an accounting of Ms Herold’s assets and an order that would prevent her from liquidating assets.
Ms Nash is still seriously ill in hospital. The 55-year-old lost her hands, nose, lips and eyelids and may be blind and suffering brain damage after the attack in Stamford.
The 200lb chimp was shot and killed by police.
