Teenager stabbed to death in the UK
A 15-year-old boy has been stabbed to death, police in the UK said today.
The teenager was found with stab wounds to the chest in Whitwell Road, east London, around 11pm last night, the Metropolitan Police said.
He was taken to the Royal London hospital where he was pronounced dead just before midnight. Next of kin have been informed.
Officers discovered the injured teenager after seeing a large group of youths in the street.
As the police approached, the group fled the scene.
The 15-year-old was then found with several stab wounds to his chest.
Police are unsure exactly how he came to be injured, and said they were keeping an “open mind” about what happened.
The stabbing is being investigated by the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command unit.
A number of police are at the scene in Whitwell Road, examining the area for clues and speaking to passers-by and residents.
Forensic officers are also carrying out a fingertip search of the area.
A post-mortem will be carried out on the dead youth in due course.
Anyone with information about the attack should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The stabbing is the latest violent teenage death to hit the London area. Last year more than 28 teenagers met violent deaths in and around the capital.
