Clinton reveals donations

Former US President Bill Clinton has released records that show governments, corporations and billionaires with their own interests in US foreign policy made millions of dollars in contributions to his charitable foundation.

The records released account for at least €492m (€350.9m) in contributions to the non-profit William J Clinton Foundation and were intended to lay bare any financial entanglements that could affect Mr Clinton’s wife, Hillary Clinton, as the next secretary of state.

Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for President-elect Barack Obama, said that past donations to the foundation have no bearing on Mrs Clinton’s prospective tenure as Secretary of State.
