Congo militia holds journalist
A German reporter has been kidnapped by a militia group in eastern Congo.
The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper said veteran Africa correspondent and Belgian citizen Thomas Scheen was taken by members of a pro-government militia known as the Mai Mai.
The paper said: “While covering the crisis region in eastern Congo he was taken between the two fronts and imprisoned.”
The German Foreign Ministry said it was trying to clarify the situation.
