A son of Osama bin Laden is seeking political asylum in Madrid, a Spanish newspaper reported today.

Omar Osama bin Laden arrived at Madrid’s Barajas airport yesterday and requested asylum, 'El Pais' said. Mr Bin Laden is being held at the airport while authorities consider his request.

The 28-year-old arrived on a flight from Cairo that was making a stop-over in Madrid en route to Casablanca, Morocco.

El Pais did not say what grounds Mr Bin Laden, who describes himself as a pacifist who rejects terrorism, was giving for the request.
