ETA bomb kills Spanish soldier

Basque separatist group ETA killed an army officer and injured six others with a car bomb in northern Spain today.

It exploded shortly after 1am outside an army office in the northern town of Santona, killing Brigadier Luis Conde de la Cruz.

It was the third car bomb in 24 hours blamed on ETA. Another exploded outside a police station injuring 10 people in the town of Ondarroa, in the neighbouring Basque region.

ETA is considered a terrorist group by Spain, the European Union and the United States.
