US Marines who took back a key piece of southern Afghan terrain from Taliban militants have turned over responsibility of the area to British and Afghan forces.

The 2,400 Marines of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit are pulling out of the town of Garmser in the southern province of Helmand and starting to head back to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.
