Bomb explodes on Spanish tourist beach
A small bomb has exploded on a tourist beach in the Spanish resort of Guadalmar on the southern Costa del Sol following a warning call, causing no injuries and little damage.
A caller who said he spoke in the name of the Basque separatist group ETA warned fire services in nearby Benalmadena that three bombs would explode, the Interior Ministry said.
The caller said bombs were placed in Guadalmar, Benalmadena and on a highway linking Malaga to its international airport, a ministry spokeswoman told The Associated Press.
In July, ETA set off a series of bombs in Spain’s northern resorts of Laredo and Noja.
ETA has been fighting since 1968 for an independent Basque homeland in northern Spain and southern France.
