Seven dead in Slovenia kayak accident
Seven bodies have been recovered from a river in south-east Slovenia after a boating accident, police said today.
Pavel Perc said two survivors are in hospital, with one in a critical condition, and divers are continuing to search for five people who are still missing.
He said the accident happened yesterday when two kayaks broke apart after hitting a submerged dam in the Sava River, near the town of Sevnica, around 55 miles south-east of the capital of Ljubljana.
Police divers arrived immediately at the scene, but were hampered by the river’s strong current.
