Port officials say French fishing industry workers have blocked a key oil terminal in Marseille as part of nationwide port protests over rising fuel prices.

Port officials say French fishing industry workers have blocked a key oil terminal in Marseille as part of nationwide port protests over rising fuel prices.

Port officials at the Fos-sur-Mer terminal say some 50 protesters are blocking trucks from entering and leaving the terminal. They have also have set fire to tires and delivery crates at the site.

Police were sent to the site after the terminal was blocked today.

Since May 10 the protesters have blocked ports on France’s Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts to protest rising fuel prices and ask for government aid to cope with the costs.
