Karzai was warned of assassination plot

Afghanistan’s intelligence chief said he warned President Hamid Karzai of the weekend assassination plot against him.

Amrullah Saleh told Parliament yesterday that the plot to kill Mr Karzai was hatched last month and the gunmen had rented the room they opened fire from 45 days before the attack.
