Fake policeman shot dead after officer's robbery bid

A man who posed as a policeman and apparently tried to rob two plain-clothes officers in Austria was shot dead by one of the pair, police said today.

A spokesman said two other men involved in the attempted robbery near a highway parking place in the state of Lower Austria were also shot but survived and were taken to hospital.
