The H5 strain of bird flu has been confirmed in turkeys on a farm in the UK, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said today.

The H5 strain of bird flu has been confirmed in turkeys on a farm in the UK, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said today.

Some 5,000 birds are being slaughtered at the farm, which has ducks and geese as well as turkeys, and 3km protection and 10km surveillance zones have been set up around the premises in Norfolk, Defra said.
