Legless man steered truck while drunk

A legless US man and his friend were accused of drink driving by police who said the paraplegic was at the wheel while the other man worked the pedals.

Harvey Miller, 43, was steering the 1985 Chevrolet truck and Edwin Marzinske, 55, was operating the pedals when they were pulled over in Abbotsford, Wisconsin on August 18, police said.

Miller, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, told officers he had too much to drink, but argued he was not really driving since Marzinske was on the brake and the accelerator, police said.

Marzinske was arrested on the same charge.

It was Miller’s third arrest on a drink driving charge, and Marzinske’s second.

Both men were also charged with driving after their licences had been revoked.

A third man in the truck, who had also been drinking, walked home after the traffic stop, police said.
